Grosset Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2014

SemillonSavBlanc_2014_Hi Res No ShadowJust 850 cases released. There is nothing quite like the 2014 Grosset Semillon Sauvignon Blanc. While quite fine and showing distinctive sauvignon blanc character it is in fact 75% Clare Valley semillon and 25% Adelaide Hills sauvignon blanc.

This blend produces a unique wine that brings together the best of both varieties and both regions. In 2014, there’s substance and body from the Clare semillon with thrilling, white flower blossom and tight, intense white peach flavours from the Adelaide Hills sauvignon.

General Cellaring Guide: Tantalisingly fruit-driven, it’s so delicious young that it’s likely to be at its best over the next twelve months.

This is just a baby and will get even better over the next few months, though is delicious now. With crisp grassy and lemon-pith aromas, it’s very bright and lively in the mouth with intense flavour and a clean, dry, length finish.  4 Stars – 92 Points.

Jeff Grosset believes this is one of the most appealing releases of this wine in recent years; early-picked Clare Semillon gives the wine its texture and structure, but doesn’t blur the tropical fruits of the Adelaide Hills sauvignon blanc; the two parts are joined symbiotically and synergistically 96 Points
