Grosset Off-dry Riesling 2011
The Grosset estate is home to a special vineyard at Watervale’s highest elevation where the soil is poorer and tougher than it is at the adjacent ‘Springvale’ vineyard. The low yields are vital to allow for full ripening at high acidity which Grosset is convinced is the key to success with the off-dry style. The 2011 Grosset Off-dry Riesling has more restrained aromatics than the ‘Springvale’ – just a hint of white flowers, a whisper of lime juice – is softer and plumper than its sibling yet is still tight, fine and mouth-puckering. There’s some slatey minerally savouriness on a tight palate and refreshing, cleansing acidity that leaves a fine hint of lingering sweetness. Almost identical in structure to the last year’s highly successful premier release, this wine is also rated ‘dry’ by International standards.
General Cellaring Guide: Enjoy now or cellar up to 10 years.

Tyson Stelzer ‘Wine Taste Weekly’ Edition 28 19 August 2011
Best ever! OK, so the 2010 was the first, but I adore it and the 2011 is even more pristine, pure and immaculate. Subtle, impeccably gauged sweetness and delightful, lingering minerality. An intricately crafted wine that should come with a warning: once you start it’s impossible to put down your glass. Drink 2011-2026. 95 points
James Halliday ‘The Weekend Australian Magazine’ 3-4 March 2012
The uncrowned king of Australian riesling, Jeffrey Grosset, decided to label his wine Off-dry, partly to signal that this was the first new wine he had released in 17 years. Its vibrant lime and apple flavours mask part, but by no means all, of its acidity. 96 points
Nick Bulleid ‘Gourmet Traveller Wine’ December/January 2012
Grosset off-dry riesling is a delicate and poised wine. Otton described it as ‘beautifully aromatic, with jasmine, snowdrop and white flowers; yet concentrated, intense and succulent. Lime zest and sherbet.’ The balance of sweetness and acidity are exemplary and the wine is truly off-dry.
